GEOMETRY 1
original tile draft design and copy (traced)
modified design with extra detail
retrace the reflected image - hand to teacher with original for photocopying
rotate, translate and reflect
complete kowhawhai pattern
provide your instructions to create your kowhaiwhai
1) Place the design (tile) starting at the top left hand corner.
2) Rotate the design by 180 degees (half turn) using the invariant point at its centre marked A
3) Translate the new design by the vector :
2) Rotate the design by 180 degees (half turn) using the invariant point at its centre marked A
3) Translate the new design by the vector :
This translates the design 14cm to the right and 10 cm down. However you can just say
"translate the new design 1 frame (or tile) to the right and 1 frame down to create image 4" (or however you label it).
4) Reflect the translated image using the invariant points BC as a mirror line (line of symmetry)
5) Reflect the original design using the invariant points DE as a mirror line (line of symmetry)
6) Reflect the 4 designs using the invariant points FG as a mirror line (line of symmetry)
