WINDING THE BOBIN AND THREADING THE NEEDLE ON THE ELNA 2000
PRACTICE SEWING ACTIVITY
- Cut out an A3 (42cm x 30cm) size of fabric carefully with dressmaker’s scissors.
- Sew a zigzag stitch (or overcasting stitch if you are confident) around the edge of the fabric to reduce the amount of fraying.
- Fold the edges of the fabric (about 1cm) and iron flat before sewing using a standard straight stitch.
- Now would be a good time to sew on a patch if you have one.
- Divide the fabric into thirds using a fabric pencil or crayon, (about 14cm). Fold one of the thirds and sew along its 2 edges. (Seem edges come together).
- Turn the fabric inside out.
- Sew about 5cm of Velcro along the flap edge of the fabric and along the edge of fabric where the two will come together.
SEWING WITH A STANDARD STITCH ON THE ELNA 2000
Set the stitch control selector to 'A'. Sew a straight stitch for about 1cm, followed by a 'reverse stitch' for 1cm to stop the thread coming undone. Continue sewing the straight stitch.
